Size: 9 3/4 n x 6 3/4 n Adurkar (1907-1992) was the first Indian Director of Sir J.J. School of Art 1947-53. He studied painting at the Slade School (London) 1936 and was the first Indian artist to be made Associate of the Royal College of Arts and the Royal Society of Painters-Etchers-Engravers (London). Adurkar was an artist whose works found a place of pride both at home and abroad. Belonging to the early school of academic realism, Adurkar was a passionate watercolorist and had a unique way of depicting human forms & figures. Many of the modernists studied under him. Adurkar’s works have only now received the wide recognition which was long due. His works recently came under the hammer at Pundole’s and can be acquired at Gallery Mosaic.
