G. S. Adivrekar
GS Adivrekar is is an abstract painter who has given an all new definition to non-figurative painting. His canvases are bright, beautiful and unforgettable. Adivrekar was born in Konkan village in 1938 and joined the Sir J.J School of Art in 1963 and then successfully created a career as an established abstract painter.
His paintings are colorful and mesmerizing and bear the stamp of scenic coastal part of India he comes from. A powerful imagination combined with wonderful hues make his paintings a visual treat and finely balanced piece of art. Adivrekar digressed from his usual form of art in 1998 and had an exhibition of sculptures that he created.

Size: 13 1/2 n x 20 1/2 n Gopal Adivrekar was born in 1938 in a Konkan village (Maharashtra). Adivrekar came to Mumbai and joined the Sir J. J. School of Art to complete his graduation in 1963. He then went on to chart a distinguished career as an abstract painter. Adivrekar had been associated with the Lalit Kala Academi for a number of years. For many years, he held the post of Chairman of the Bombay Art Society. He had also served as an art designer with the Weavers Service Centre. An abstract painter, Adivrekar has taken the art of non-figurative painting to a new high. Adivrekar`s canvases bear the unmistakable stamp of genius and are sheer poetry in colour. The blue of the sea, the white of the surf, clouds, birds, golden sands and black rock glistening in the sun are all reminiscent of the beautiful coastal region that Adivrekar hails from. He took all these and transformed them into abstract art forms that are symbolic and divorced from naturalism.
