Senaka Senanayake

A contemporary Sri Lankan painter, Senaka's work is denoted by the vibrant and colourful scenes of lush and overlapping vegetation combined with jungle fauna. His work has made one of the most reputed and appreciated artists of Sri Lanka. His sole objective was to make people more appreciative of art. In his career, he has observed people walking by artworks without giving a glance and so he wanted to create art that would talk and that people could relate to. Senaka has many solo exhibitions across the world to his credit. He has exhibited in countries like London, Paris, New York, Tokyo, and Berlin and many others. Born in the year 1951 in Colombo, he studied thereafter at Yale University. His sources of inspiration for his artwork comes from his childhood experiences, the colourful landscape in his home country and from old forms of traditional Buddhist art.
